Warranties offered by window manufacturers vary widely, but generally the best windows are backed by the best warranties. Look for a warranty that offers a lifetime protection on the window parts, particularly on the seal of the dual pane glass which is the most expensive item to replace after the window has been installed. Make sure labor is included in the warranty.

While some manufacturers offer lifetime protection of parts, they only include labor for a limited period of time. The labor to repair or replace defective window parts is easily the most expensive part of the service. Premium, window warranties offer transferability, so warranty protection can be extended to the new homeowner if a home is sold thereby increasing the value.

SUREGUARD is one of the few manufacturers that even offer warranty protection against glass breakage! If your window breaks accidentally, they will replace the broken pane, 'parts and labor', at no charge. Don't expect a warranty like that on lower end windows.
